In the third part of Áron Tamási's rightly popular novel, upon arriving at the port, Ábel, who is travelling to America, must report his affiliation. He admits that he is indeed Székely. When asked, “What kind of nation is the Székely?” he replies, “Hungarian, but even better.”

Tamás Sulyok had a telephone conversation today with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

The President of the State of Israel congratulated Tamás Sulyok on his election as President of Hungary. The two Heads of State reviewed the most important bilateral and international political issues. During the exchange of views, the Hungarian President stressed that Hungary is a close ally and best friend of Israel as well as its strategic partner in Europe.

Today, President Tamás Sulyok, in fulfilment of his constitutional duty, called the election of the members of the European Parliament in Hungary and the general election of local municipality representatives and mayors. 

The first simultaneous elections will take place on 09 June 2024.

The votes express the democratic will of the electorate

On 9 June 2024, on the day of the elections to the European Parliament, local governments and of national minority advocates, Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary and his wife cast their votes in Szeged. After the vote, the President said that since there have been free elections in Hungary, his wife Zsuzsa and he have always exercised their right to vote, and again urged his fellow citizens to vote as well.

Katalin Novák attended the Chivalric Tournament of Sinj at the invitation of the Croatia’s Head of State

President of Hungary Katalin Novák met with President of Croatia Zoran Milanović in Sinj, where the Hungarian President attended a Chivalric Tournament going back more than three centuries at the Croation President’s invitation. 
At what is generally known as the „Sinj Alka”, participants commemorated the victory in 1715, when the town’s heroic defenders halted in Dalmatia the Ottoman army trying to advance towards Europe.

Rwanda will open a diplomatic mission in Hungary

Hungary is a gateway to the European Union, and Rwanda is a gateway to the Continent of Africa – said President Katalin Novák on Sunday, following her meeting with President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame.

The Hungarian Head of State also visited the hospital of Rwamagana, a city next to the capital, Kigali, where - in cooperation with Hungarian Interchurch Aid - she handed over two incubators to the Neonatal Unit. 
The doctors thanked Katalin Novák and the Hungarian delegation for the two incubators, and the little patients were pleased with the gifted toys.
For a long time already, Hungary has been providing Rwanda with substantial assistance in developing its schools and hospitals.
 

Katalin Novák on official visit to Rwanda

In the course of her official visit to Rwanda, the President of Hungary visited Nyanza elementary and secondary school (Nyanza École Secondaire), where she attended a lesson on European history, followed by a visit to the handwashing facility built in the context of the Hungary Helps project. The facility is needed to ensure that the 1000 or so students who come here can learn in hygienic conditions.

The presidential gift cherished most by the locals were the two cows, which provide the schoolchildren with healthy milk.

On the shore of Lake Balaton, Katalin Novák joined a Christian programme on experiential education facilitating cooperation and community building, tested the smoke-tent of the firefighters simulating house fire smoke as part of the Heroes’ Day programmes, and sliced watermelons which she then distributed to the campers. 
Several children asked the President of Hungary to sign their T-shirt or baseball cap, and lots of them had a joint photo taken with the Head of State.

President of Hungary Katalin Novák handed over appointments and assignments as ambassador at Sándor Palace today. 

Dr. Ferenc Dancs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, has been appointed Head of the Permanent Representation of Hungary to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna and Head of the Permanent Mission of Hungary to the United Nations in Vienna. 

Dr. Károly Benes has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and has been mandated to lead Hungary’s embassy in Abu-Dhabi.

Ferenc Mádl – the scholar and the statesman —Sándor Palace Talks

Ferenc Mádl was the first conservative President of Hungary following the regime change who showed that it is possible to represent the values he held dear without compromising his independence and sovereignty.

The late Head of State was remembered at the launch of an 800-page monograph on his work at the SP Talks event at Sándor Palace.

At the launch of the monograph by Endre Domaniczky titled Ferenc Mádl – the scholar and the statesman, Katalin Novák said: „Ferenc Mádl opened up many doors, even he was a door-opening President of Hungary during his time in office ".

News
