The votes express the democratic will of the electorate

On 9 June 2024, on the day of the elections to the European Parliament, local governments and of national minority advocates, Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary and his wife cast their votes in Szeged. After the vote, the President said that since there have been free elections in Hungary, his wife Zsuzsa and he have always exercised their right to vote, and again urged his fellow citizens to vote as well.

After the closing of the polls at 7 pm, the President of Hungary visited the National Election Office, where Attila Nagy, President of the National Election Office and Róbert Sasvári, President of the National Election Committee received him.

The Head of State was briefed on the details of the election process, and observed the counting of postal votes and the digital vote aggregation system.

In his media announcement, Tamás Sulyok thanked citizens for their participation and the work of those involved in the elections. As he said, the democratic will of voters is expressed in their votes.

In his speech, the Head of State stressed, "I trust that in our future daily lives, mutual respect and appreciation for each other will be coupled with the ability of insight, so that we, both individually and collectively, will be able to do our utmost to protect our European and national, regional and local, national and ethnic traditional values."
