Honourable Presidents, Honourable Judges, Ladies and Gentlemen!

As a lawyer by profession and, by virtue of my office, as Head of State, I greet you all with love and respect on Courts Day. A special day launched to show our appreciation for the work of the courts, judges and court officials. 
Being a judge and running the court system well is a challenge. It requires competence and responsibility, wisdom and expertise, empathy and precision.

It is a celebration for the whole nation when a Hungarian athlete achieves excellent success with an Olympic performance. The Olympics is the pinnacle of competitions. 

It is when the most beautiful chapters in our sporting history are written. These chapters are written by those who take the lead at the finish line, who break records, who step up to the podium, those in whose honour the Hungarian national anthem is played.

Tamás Sulyok had a telephone conversation today with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

The President of the State of Israel congratulated Tamás Sulyok on his election as President of Hungary. The two Heads of State reviewed the most important bilateral and international political issues. During the exchange of views, the Hungarian President stressed that Hungary is a close ally and best friend of Israel as well as its strategic partner in Europe.

Today, President Tamás Sulyok, in fulfilment of his constitutional duty, called the election of the members of the European Parliament in Hungary and the general election of local municipality representatives and mayors. 

The first simultaneous elections will take place on 09 June 2024.

The votes express the democratic will of the electorate

On 9 June 2024, on the day of the elections to the European Parliament, local governments and of national minority advocates, Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary and his wife cast their votes in Szeged. After the vote, the President said that since there have been free elections in Hungary, his wife Zsuzsa and he have always exercised their right to vote, and again urged his fellow citizens to vote as well.

Women's crying voice for peace gets more attention in the world

Women’s crying voices for peace gets more attention in the world, that even the thunder of guns can't drown them out – said President of Hungary Katalin Novák in an interview published in the newspaper Kelet-Magyarország (Eastern Hungary) on Saturday. The interview was given on the occasion of her visit to Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County.

In the newspaper, the Head of State stressed: "we feel what it means when our sons and husbands are sent off to war. And my goal is to prevent that generations should have to experience the horrors of war".

Receipt of ambassadorial credentials at Sándor Palace

President of Hungary Katalin Novák received the credentials of four ambassadors accredited to Hungary, who can now even officially begin their work in our country.

The Presidents of Slovenia and Hungary visited the National Széchényi Library

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Hungary and Slovenia, the National Széchényi Library staged an exhibition titled “Vivat Slovenia! / Vivat Slovenija!”. The exhibition was opened by President of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar and President of Hungary Katalin Novák on Wednesday.

At the opening ceremony, Katalin Novák announced that the director generals of the two national libraries signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday morning in Sándor Palace, in the presence of the two countries’ Heads of State.

During her two-day visit to Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, the President of Hungary conducted an exchange of views with female mayors in Kékcse.

In her welcome speech, Katalin Novák called female leadership an additional responsibility for herself as well as the woman mayors present, because, as she said, they have to reconcile their family life with their professional life. She also said that women who take on public roles - because they are few in number – find themselves in the spotlight of attention much more than men.

The nation will remain strong if it stays faithful to its spiritual-intellectual and tangible heritage - said President of Hungary Katalin Novák at the opening ceremony of the Museum of Greek-Catholic Heritage in Nyíregyháza on Thursday, in the county capital of the Nyírség region.

We Hungarians, inside and outside our borders, can always count on each other – the President of Hungary declared at the unveiling ceremony of the statue of Ferenc Kölcsey in Nagykároly in the Partium on Wednesday.
At the unveiling ceremony of the memorial made by sculptor Lajos Győrfi at the square in front of the Mayor’s Office, Katalin Novák stressed that Kölcsey warns the Hungarians that we must enrich the future, protect the present and guard the past all at the same time.

On Tuesday, President of Hungary and Commander in Chief of the Hungarian Defence Forces received in her office Lieutenant-General Ruszin-Szendi Romulusz Chief of Staff of the Hungarian Defence Forces and Major-General János Szaszák, Deputy Director General of the Military National Security Service.

NATO must be unified and become stronger, but issues related to its enlargement should be discussed – declared President of Hungary Katalin Novák on One on One, a programme on the English language channel TRT World of Turkish Sate Television. The programme was broadcast late on Monday evening.

In the first part of the interview, Katalin Novák was asked about the NATO accession of Finland and Sweden. The President stressed that "in these difficult times we must remain united and show our strength".
NATO is an important alliance that must be strengthened – she underlined.
