Dr. Tamás Sulyok received the Congolese Head of State
The President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who is on an official visit to Budapest, was received by Dr. Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary, at Sándor Palace. Félix-Antione Tshisekedi is the first Congolese Head of State to visit Hungary.
The bilateral meeting took place in the context of the Opening to the South policy and the Africa Strategy, which aims to renew Hungary's relations with sub-Saharan countries and to conclude mutually beneficial partnership agreements.
During the diplomatic talks, the most important issues affecting the two countries were discussed. Congo, one of the continent's most economically important countries, plays an important role in Hungary's relations with Africa. The President of Hungary expressed his appreciation for the Congolese government's efforts to maintain peace and security.
Dr. Tamás Sulyok added that the region is particularly important for Hungary from a security policy point of view, as it is one of the starting points of the migration processes that pose serious challenges for Europe.
As part of the economic cooperation between the two countries, Hungary is committed to promoting infrastructure development, agriculture and water management, as well as the transfer of Hungarian innovations and technological know-how and the training of relevant specialists.
"Hungary will always be a partner in creating a balance between faith and knowledge", said Dr. Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary, at the meeting between the two Heads of State.
