School inauguration and school-year opening ceremony in Szigetszentmiklós
A good school can only be complete with the harmonious trio of teacher-parent-child, said President Katalin Novák at the inauguration and school opening ceremony of the Temesvári Utca Primary School in Szigetszentmiklós.
The Head of State added that "we can be thankful that the new school year can start in peace, parents are free to raise their children, there are committed educators, schools are improving and our children are gaining more and more knowledge".
In her celebratory address, Katalin Novák highlighted that Hungary has two pieces of homework to do: one is to resolve the situation of teachers, the other is to fight against ideologies that want to take over schools and use them as a tool.
The President recalled that ten days ago she visited Beregszász, where the lines of the poet Sándor Reményik were brought to life by the brave voices of Transcarpathian children. She said that the line had become an appeal to all of us: "Do not give up the church, the church and the school!"
After the opening ceremony, Katalin Novák was shown around the new school building by two students, then she and the participants tasted this year's country cake.
The opening ceremony was also attended by László Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly, and the participants were welcomed by Annamária Pálos, Director of the School District.
