The President of Hungary salutes the new Bishop of the Transylvanian Reformed Diocese

Dr. Tamás Sulyok attended the service and ceremony in Kolozsvár for the inauguration of Vilmos Kolumbán, the new bishop of the Transylvanian Reformed Diocese.

The President of Hungary, quoting writer András Visky’s work Kitelepítés (Expulsion), referred to Transylvania as "the place of unwavering perseverance," where the Hungarian people of Transylvania preserve their mother tongue, national identity, and culture.

Dr. Tamás Sulyok stressed that strong congregations can erase fear and hopelessness with the joy of thanksgiving.  According to the Head of State, "what will happen to the Reformed Hungarians of Transylvania will also determine what happens to us Hungarians in Hungary".

In his speech, the President of Hungary stressed that "the unity of the Hungarian nation across state borders is a fundamental value for us". Therefore, he called it an important task "to engage with the communities living in their homeland and to seek ways to improve each other's fate, so that our communities are unshakable".

On behalf of Hungary, the Head of State wished Vilmos Kolumbán to be a guardian and uplifter of Transylvania’s Reformed community, leading his congregation "on the path of hope and trust in God".
