Open Days at Sándor-Palace – 13-14 May 2023
On the first anniversary of the inauguration of President of Hungary Katalin Novák, Sándor-Palace will be open to visitors again. Sándor Palace will open its doors to the public on 13 and 14 May, on Saturday and Sunday. On both days, visitors can visit the building housing the Office of the Head of State from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The programmes of the Open Days will begin in Szent György Square in front of Sándor Palace: at noon, a musical change of the guards will take place, and at 10.00 and 14.00, the Central Orchestra of the Hungarian Defence Forces will perform an open air concert.
Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the history of Sándor Palace, reborn in 2002, and visit the salon where Katalin Novák had a private meeting with Pope Francis during the visit of the Catholic Pontiff to Hungary. Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn where the President of Hungary welcomes the heads of state visiting our country, and where she presents and receives ambassadorial credentials.
It will also be possible to tour the historical rooms that have served a representative function for centuries, such as the Hall of Mirrors, the Red Salon with its painting of Maria Theresa, the Blue Drawing Room with its neo-baroque furniture also called the Gobelin or Boucher Room, and the Empire Salon.
Admission is free.
