The Head of State meets with lawyers from the Southern Great Plain region in Szentes

Legal professionals in rural areas are key to the nation's survival, said Dr. Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary, in Szentes.
The Head of State held a round table discussion with representatives of the legal profession in the Southern Great Plain. In response to a journalist's question after the meeting, the President stressed that the availability of highly competent legal professionals in cities of the size of Szentes, and the presence and functioning of academia in other professions, is essential for the survival of the nation. As President Sulyok put it, "roots are good so that people are not blown away by the wind".

The Head of State said that in his daily work, he draws on the experience he gained as a lawyer living in the countryside. Now, as President of Hungary, he is in a position to direct attention to the important role legal professionals play in rural areas. The President is trying to collect and promote good practices and to create links between regions of the country.

The Head of State mentioned the initiatives of government offices, universities and courts among the good practices that improve the opportunities of legal professionals living in the countryside, highlighting the further training courses offered to lawyers by the Gyula Tribunal.

Dr. Tamás Sulyok said that in the future, he will visit towns of the size of Szentes in other regions of the country as well. His aim is to collect and use the experiences and to create opportunities so that in a hundred years' time, Hungarians will still be proud of the residents of Szentes, Szarvas, Mezőtúr and - not forgetting the birthplace of the Head of State - of the people of Kiskunfélegyháza.
