The largest military exercise of the past three decades was opened in the presence of Katalin Novák
President Novák, the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, inspected the military exercise named "Adaptive Hussars 23" in Hódmezővásárhely. The initial phase of the largest military exercise in the past 30 years involves nearly a thousand soldiers, including foreign participants such as Italians, Croatians, Turks, Americans, along with reserve Hungarian troops.
The exercise, involving NATO forces, will mobilise approximately 4,500 personnel and more than 200 different equipment over the next few days.
The President, accompanied by Minister of Defence Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, met with the recruits who joined as a result of the recruitment campaign at the 30th Kinizsi Pál Armoured Infantry Brigade. Additionally, she observed a demonstration of one of the military's most modern pieces of equipment, the so-called "Lynx" infantry armoured fighting vehicles. Katalin Novák also tried out the new armoured vehicle herself.
The current military exercise is the Hungarian Defence Forces' largest exercise held this year, involving both active-duty and reserve personnel. It assesses the designated stand-by forces of the military and the status of the leadership system within the armed forces.
According to Katalin Novák, this military exercise also proves that in uncertain times, the Hungarian Defence Forces are ready to defend the security and sovereignty of Hungary.
