Katalin Novák held bilateral talks at the UN Climate Change Summit in Dubai
President Novák held bilateral talks with leaders of several countries at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai.
Katalin Novák discussed demographic problems and the issue of EU funds with Cypriot President Nicos Christodoulides. With Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh she discussed strengthening economic relations and tourism cooperation. Katalin Novák was invited to visit Vietnam on a state visit.
The Hungarian Head of State talked with Mongolian President Uhnagiin Hürelsüh about economic relations, supporting families and protecting family values, and invited him to join the Network of Family Friendly Presidents, which the Mongolian President gladly accepted.
Katalin Novák discussed energy issues and the situation in the Middle East with King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa of Bahrain. With Polish President Andrzej Duda, she analysed relations between the two countries, and she had an informal meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Ahead of the opening ceremony, the President of Hungary spoke with British Monarch Charles III about their expectations for the Climate Summit.
In her speech delivered at the conference on Friday, Katalin Novák drew attention to the importance of family and having children. She stressed that a sustainable future requires sustainable demography, and responsibility for the planet presupposes a sense of responsibility to maintain the continuation of life.
Attila Steiner, State Secretary for Energy and Climate Policy at the Ministry of Energy, told public media in connection with the President's speech that the speech was very well received by the audience, because it analysed a problem that concerns everyone. Katalin Novák expressed a strong, characterful, conservative opinion that if we care for our descendants, if we want children, then at the same time we are also concerned about the future of our planet, the State Secretary pointed out.
The United Arab Emirates is hosting the UN Climate Change Conference (COP) this year, bringing together more than 80,000 delegates, including 140 Heads of State and Government, hosted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and President of the United Arab Emirates Mohamed bin Zayid.
Katalin Novák visited the stand of Kecskemét’s Neumann János University at the Dubai Expo. As the sole Hungarian exhibitor, the university participates in the event with a uniquely designed, hydrogen-powered vehicle.
