„A crime truly succeeds when it is forgotten” - Remembering the victims of communism

On 25 February, the Victims of Communism Memorial Day, we remember the 750,000 Hungarians who were deported to Soviet forced labour camps, the tens of thousands of people who were imprisoned from the 1950s onwards, and the close to a thousand of our compatriots who were executed under the communist dictatorship.

The suffering and pain of the prisoners of the GULAG, the detainees of the internment camps in Tiszalök, Kazincbarcika, Kistarcsa, Hortobágy and Tiszafüred, and the prisoners of the Recsk camp are indelible in our memory.
