The Prime Minister of Poland received Katalin Novák in Warsaw

President of Hungary Katalin Novák and Prime Minster of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki stressed the importance of Polish-Hungarian friendship. The President and the Prime Minister met at Lazienki Palace on Wednesday, ahead of the summit of the Bucharest Nine (B9) including the Central- and Eastern European members of NATO.

„Ahead of the Summit in Warsaw, I met with a long-time friend, Mateusz Morawiecki. Polish-Hungarian friendship is not just a historical slogan, but a living reality. We hope that the war will end soon, but we are certain that Polish-Hungarian friendship will last forever." – Katalin Novák stressed in her Facebook post on Wednesday.

At the meeting, Mateusz Morawiecki pointed out that in addition to the war, Europe is also confronted with economic challenges. He added that with the President of Hungary, they also talked about the Russian-Ukrainian war, the economic challenges, the energy crisis and inflation. "I am glad that our Hungarian friends understand the dimension of the threats confronting us in the near future" – he remarked.

On Wednesday, the President of Hungary met with Cardinal of Poland Konrad Krajewski, and then proceeded to pay her respects at the grave of the Polish Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski who passed away in 1981. 

Subsequently, Katalin Novák gave a speech at the B9 Summit, which was also attended by US President Joe Biden and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
