Head of State diplomacy in Bahrain
Our economic cooperation must be strengthened and peace in Ukraine is needed as soon as possible – said Katalin Novák during her visit to Bahrain.
During her visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain on Thursday, President of Hungary Katalin Novák emphasised the importance of strengthening energy and economic cooperation. Katalin Novák was also received by King of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with whom they agreed that peace in Ukraine is urgently needed.
Katalin Novák pointed out that this is the first time a Hungarian Head of State visited the Kingdom of Bahrain. She stressed: the cultures of the two countries may appear different, but they are very similar in their protection of traditional values.
Katalin Novák spoke of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which directly impacts Hungary, as 150 thousand Hungarians live in Transcarpathia. She underlined that the soonest possible end to the war and peace is in Europe’s best interest.
Speaking about economic relations, Katalin Novák said she was pleased that a cooperation agreement opening up new doors may be signed between the companies of the two countries.
The Hungarian Head of State attended the opening event of Bahrain’s Economic Development Board. At the event, which was also attended by the Prime Minister of Bahrain, Katalin Novák confirmed that Hungary supports visa free status for Bahrain in the Schengen area, while Group CEO of the Hungarian Oil Company MOL Oszkár Világi and the representatives of Bahrain’s Nass Corporation and Nogaholding signed Memorandums of Agreement.
Speaking to public media, State Secretary for Energy and Climate Policy Attila Steiner, a member of the President’s delegation, emphasized that visits by heads of state give a significant impetus to economic cooperation.
