Days at Camp Erzsébet are about peace and security
The time spent at the Erzsébet Camp is about peace and security, as well as undisturbed relaxation – President of Hungary Katalin Novák stressed in her speech given at the Erzsébet Christmas celebration in Zánka’s Erzsébet Camp.
The Head of Sate emphasized that today, peace and security are appreciated even more as a result of the war in our neighbouring country. The government would like to avoid war by all possible means, and during the Advent period, the renovated Camp Erzsébet will place particular emphasis on creating the conditions for fun and relaxation," said Katalin Novák.
The Erzsébet camps were established ten years ago, and by today the camp buildings in Zánka and Fonyódliget have been renovated, the President recalled, adding that the winterisation of the camps has made it possible for 16,000 young people to participate in the programmes of the Zánka camp this winter.
Katalin Novák wished the participants a peaceful Christmas time.
Over the past decade, more than a million young people participated in some kind of Erzsébet Camp. While in 2012, only 30 thousand children went to an Erzsébet Camp, by the end of this year, 180 thousand children will be able to attend a camp.
In the 2016 -2021 period, more than 27 thousand campers participated in the Erzsébet Christmas celebrations, and this year, the organiser Erzsébet Foundation is looking forward to the arrival of 11 thousand young guests.
The Erzsébet Christmas programme was launched in 2016 as a one-day programme as part of the camping programme, and in 2021 it became a multi-day programme. This year, children will be welcomed at the Zánka camp with Christmas activities from 21 November to 21 December.
